Back Outside!

The kids were so happy to get back outside once it got a little warmer!
7 degrees feels like summer! ;)

they made a super fun tunnel inside a snow drift

Inside Time

When the temps were so low, we stayed inside at home more than usual.
It required some creativity to keep everyone busy and happy!

normally the boys don't play much video games...
but I sure was happy for the Wii sports for the little guys on our 3rd day in the house

kids having fun playing musical pillows

I made Hannah a cute little skirt from a vintage sheet!

she loves it

Celene wants to make sure so she can plant them in her garden ;)

Celene is making scarves

I covered my old shabby hot pads with fresh fabric

Hubby was home 3 whole days and was happy to cook!

and I made Hannah a dress!!!

She decided to put a shirt under it and wear it all day :)

we managed to get a sleepover squeaked in when the temp rose...
Abbie and Celene made a darling little house

next to the house I have garlic growing in the house to use as fresh chives...do what you can right?

Polar Vortex Last Week...

...made for some stunning views...

from our living room windows

I love it when the wind blows the snow into waves

the sun peeking out at sunset was so beautiful...but it wasn't getting us above 0 any time that day

lots of bird activity at my windows...they had such a hard time hanging on when the winds were blowing 30mph

and the blowing bits of ice...it looks so pretty...but sooooo cold

hello chickadee

I was so happy to get this shot!
I wasn't expecting it, I was just taking some shots with my phone.
What a fun surprise!

during the -30 degree days, many of our windows froze on the INSIDE

the sun helped to thaw a teeny bit

Jack Frost was delightfully busy

Art Class

I have been terribly remiss in actually taking photos of the kids activities this month.
Thankfully I did think to take photos of these dear little owls after the project was finished though!
We enjoyed art class yesterday with friends, and the kids made these super fun little critters.

Random This Week

Hannah practicing piano with her rabbit tucked on her lap :)

Miles and friend Nathan chatting after tae kwon do class

We got so much snow so quickly one day this week that I did not dare to try driving the van up the driveway to get back to our house.
I'm so thankful for Miles (and his accompanying helpers) who is capable to walk up, start the tractor, and blow it clean for us to get home!

Yay!!!

Having fun sledding with friends!!!

Visiting our dearest old friend from our church, Ann, who was in the hospital this week.
Thankfully she's home and feeling much better again!

Snow Fun

What's a group of siblings gonna do when the snowmobiles don't work!
Why, use the tractor of course!

Our Birds

We are pretty attached to the wild birds that live in our neighborhood.
Here are some pictures Hannah and Celene took this week,
from the living room window!
