REINS

For the summer, Celene also volunteered for an organization called REINS.
It is a horse therapy program for kids with special needs.
Celene trained to be a horse leader.

Here she is learning how to lead a horse into the chute, where the disabled people can more easily get on the horse.

Her first training day, getting used to the horses and arena.

And this is the horse she was paired with most of the summer.

Heading out to the arena with her horse

Outside arena on a nice day

Waiting for her rider and encouraging another leader

Celene mostly led a rider named Charlotte each week. Sometimes she had other riders, especially when she volunteered to take the place of another leader if needed. Charlotte has fairly high functioning autism.
She asked 100s of questions and Celene enjoyed figuring out to best answer her so Charlotte could get the info she was asking for.
